"First visit since the last time I had a wisdom tooth pulled in 2009. Dr. Johnson and his staff are very friendly and answered all questions. First visit is a consultation.6-2026 update. Just had to have another wisdom tooth extracted. Again Dr Johnson was great. I was impressed when I arrived 15 minutes early and they immediately went to work without my having to wait."
"I’m a 71 year-old male retired, aerospace engineer, and have dealt with, and developed an ability to recognize intelligent people in my 40 years of professional experience. In my opinion, Dr. Johnson is one of the most professional and astute maxillofacial oral surgeons you could ever engage with. He has 30+ years of knowledge doing sinus lift / bone graft surgeries in areas where you have lost a tooth or multiple teeth. I broke my number 14 molar on a hard kernel of popcorn. It was split through the floor and could not be repaired. So it had to be extracted. Dr. Johnson did the extraction and at that time also placed bone grafting material into the socket. It took well and after five months of healing a second set of x-rays showed that there was still not enough bone material to accept a titanium implant. So a surgery was scheduled to place a bone graft above that location, which required also lifting my right side sinus. I’m writing this 30 hours after the surgery. Apparently the pain level is supposed to increase with the peak estimated to occur at 48 to 72 hours. So far I have only Very-Low levels of pain. I have no swelling or bruising. I do have some stitch, free ends, sort of dangling, but they cause no irritation or nuisance. I have been able to eat soft foods- eggs, applesauce, yogurt, iced coffee, pudding and homemade ice cream, etc. I’m also drinking plenty of water, diluted Gatorade, diluted pomegranate juice. I feel great. I’m careful to keep my head elevated and not do any bending over to cause blood rush to my head. I’ve had virtually no bleeding. Sleeping on my back with two pillows under my head to keep it elevated. It’s going so well that I’m planning to go for an easy 2 mile walk this evening, just 36 hours after the surgery. I cannot recommend Dr. Johnson and his support staff highly enough. Knowledge matters. Experience matters. He is an expert in the strictest definition of the word. I’m scheduled to-return next Monday for a stitch pulling session. Looking forward to it. In a few months after I’m totally healed, a new crown will be attached to the titanium stud, completing the tooth replacement. If you’ve lost a tooth, I recommend you see Dr. Johnson."

I went in for a consult to have 2 upper wisdom teeth removed and they were very thorough in explaining what my options were, what to expect, and their pricing was reasonable. Very efficient! The actual procedure took less than 30 minutes and I did not feel the slightest bit of pain. I had soreness post procedure, as to be expected, but they provided necessary prescriptions and made great suggestions on how to relieve discomfort as best one can. I will definitely recommend and utilize their services again in the future if the need arises."

"I had a pretty bad infection caused by a partially impacted wisdom tooth a couple of weeks back. They were able to move my initial consult up two weeks to help me out. "What a wonderful experience with Dr Johnson and staff to remove all four wisdom teeth , with two being impacted. From my consultation, dr Johnson explained to me what will be happening the day of my surgery. I was very nervous and he put me at ease I don’t remember much from the day of surgery and pain is at a minimum. They also wrap your head with ice so you don’t have the purchase a head wrap from Amazon. The one they gave me worked better. I hope this review helps anyone that needs their wisdom teeth out but is too afraid!!Thank you for a great experience on something that can be so scary!!!!IWill always recommend them!"

"I have to report on the very thorough job Dr Johnson did explaining to me what my impacted wisdom tooth extraction would entail, the recovery process and length, how to handle any problems that might develop afterwards etc. His office also gave me a folder of instructions to refresh my memory and a suggested list of food to eat after surgery. Everything went smoothly the day of the surgery and I had no pain or even discomfort afterwards. I had no complications despite the difficulty of the extraction. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience with a wonderful caring staff to answer any follow-up questions. "It was my first time going to see Dr. Johnson for a complex tooth extraction. I normally have high anxiety visiting the dentist because of a bad experience I had with a dentist when I was a teenager but I have to say that Dr. Johnson was excellent. He calmed my nerves down and did a phenomenal job. I thought it was going to be a painful and time consuming extraction but it wasn't. It felt like maybe 2 minutes and out it came. He said, "all done." I said, done? It was fast and painless. Him and his entire staff were professional and courteous. I definitely would recommend him to family, friends and anyone in need of dental work. Job well done, Dr. Johnson! Thank you."

"I have had, counting this time, 2 teeth removed that 1 was cracked all the way down the tooth to root end, removed by Dr. Bird (90's)and #2 removed by Dr Johnson. (2024) I was sedated both times and when I came out of it was told all went well and to go with instructions till follow up and did this. 90's tooth was a breeze and no problems at all! Second tooth all was well( Broke tooth under Crown) with it too. Both Dr. and there are great at what they do and after listening to others people used this was a no brainer! Tech's Jessica & Ashley were real good at helping with assisting both Dr.s I had a few bone chips come through on first one ( This is normal especially if tooth is damaged bad. 2nd tooth will take longer as I am an old guy now and we heal slower. My advice is Dr. Jay A. Johnson. Professional , explains everything in detail to assure you of what will take place and the sedation was great for if you want or as with me he stated I needed to be and I totally agreed. Came out of sedation quickly and was on my way home to recuperate. Not only are they great at Oral Surgery but pricing was nearly 1/2 of what most people were charging huge $$$ for sedation. So if you need wisdom teeth or facial surgery Dr. Johnson is the man to see!"

"Dr. Johnson removed all my teeth and placed 6 implants the day of my surgery. Surgery went very well and I have no complaints. Part of my stitches were removed one week post-op and the remaining stitches removed 2 weeks post-op. Dr. Johnson is incredible and his staff as well. "I reached out to Dr. Bird when one of my teeth became wiggly and I noticed a small bubble on the gum above it. I attempted to heal it by natural means with varying degrees of success. At about the 6 month mark though, I figured it was time to have it checked out. I called Dr. Bird because I didn’t have a general dentist, and he had performed extractions for myself and my husband a couple years prior. Though Dr. Bird doesn’t do the x-rays or evaluation in this scenario, he took a quick look and referred me to the general dentist near his office. Thankfully this new general dentist was kind and compassionate (as I have experienced dental trauma in the past and am beyond picky when it comes to going to a new dentist—you can read more about that on my blog). The general dentist confirmed Dr. Bird’s suspicion about the tooth and I will be able to now go back to Dr. Bird for an extraction and implant."

"What can I say. Lol finally getting around to writing this review. I had a very scary case of an upper wisdom tooth, with another tooth growing in the front of it. I must say in the beginning it was a bit awkward with the idea of having to sign a waiver for anesthesia so quickly, but Dr. Byrd was only trying to get everything rolling ASAP. I've never had to be put out for anything in my life, so all this was slightly off putting to me. Anyways... I opted for the local novacaine, because , ney on the sedation lol. Let me repeat myself, Dr. Byrd and his assistant are freaking MASTERS! When it came to the day of surgery, 3 or 5 novacaine shots later, everything went buy within like 20 minutes I swear! It's just remarkable because I've never had to have stiches, and they even stiched it all up with no feeling at all! They know what they are doing! Even Dr. Byrd reassured me wisdom teeth are a piece of cake for him, and he's right! He's just and old soul, and likes to get right to it lol don't let any of that make you feel off. This was my first time with Dr. Byrd's office. The price was amazing! The office is nice, it's small, and yeah not the Ritz or whatever, but everything else shows when it comes time to get stuff done right. The staff were all great too, nobody seemed like they hated their job, and they went above and beyond if I had questions as I had quite a few. Bottom line , this was a definite essential need to my oral situation, and super value at that. They even sent me a get well card ;) try one of the most , if not THE most experienced oral surgeon in Brevard Dr. Byrd"

"Dr. Bird is a phenomenal dental surgeon. I was referred to him years ago by my primary (now retired) dentist, Dr. Lowe for some extractions. I have had the unfortunate genetics of bad teeth, so I’ve seen Dr. Bird probably at least a half dozen times. Each time he was very kind and very informative of exactly how the procedure would work. He removed my wisdom teeth as well... and while painful after (like many people!), he had a difficult and stubborn set to work with and still managed to do the best job. I always opted for the anesthetic (exact name is slipping my mind right now!) that made me unaware of the time passing/what was going on - hence no pain. I actually remember asking the dental assistant, “will he be in to do the (four) extractions soon? I think the anesthesia is wearing off.” To which she replied, “Oh, you’re all set. He already did the extractions a bit ago.” LOL.I’m sure I will see him again in the future because there is still unfinished dental work I need taken care of. Definitely wouldn’t want to go to anyone else now, and for anyone looking for a new dental surgeon, I give my highest recommendation to Dr. Bird and his staff."
"Doctor bryd and his assistant are the best! Be pulled a impacted wisdom tooth for that was not a easy pulled and only under local anesthetic and I had very minimal discomfort after if any at all. I was back in this week to get the other wisdom tooth pulled and it was done within minutes. They both have the best chair side manar. They made my visits a very good experience."

"Woke Up in the middle of the night with extreme jaw pain. After hours of taking ibuprofen and still in pain I'm thinking this has to be exposed nerves as several my teeth were aching or taking turns aching. My dentist felt that my wisdom tooth was the cause and gave me 3 referrals for my selection of an oral surgeon for tooth extraction. I did my google research and selected Bird and Johnson, oral surgery and I'm happy that I did. The front office gave me an appointment to see Dr Johnson that afternoon, upon arrival the office staff was very professional and kind, I was surprised that I saw the doctor almost immediately and didn't have to sit in the waiting room for ever, I was impressed and amazed by Dr Johnson! He gave me a lot of time and actually listened to me as I described my symptoms and quizzed me for more info, and then he did a mouth exam that was quick and painless. After our consultation Dr. Johnson felt that my teeth were not causing my issues but it was most likely a nerve problem and that I should wait 2 weeks for an improvement. Wait and see where it goes - No surgery scheduled. I feel very fortunate and that I made a good decision in selecting Birds and Johnson. "This was a great pain free surgery, I expected it to be rough, I had multiple uppers removed including my 2 fronts that had been repaired in the past. I prefer full sedation due to some unpleasant procedures I had in my youth. A quick check in at the front desk & I was in the back within 3 minutes and the procedure started quick. Before I could realize it I was in my friends car & on the way home. There is no way I believe that any one could do a better job. Very happy with Dr. Johnson's work A+"
"So impressed! My husband woke up with swelling and pain on his left side today. Immediately thought it was a tooth causing it. Not only did they see him today, but with thorough exam found it was his salivary gland, not tooth related, and prescribed him an antibiotic which they could've just sent him away and not helped him, but instead they did help him and gave instructions on remedy and if it does occur again he would need an ENT Dr at that point. Dr. Johnson saved him from having to go to urgent care because it wasn't his teeth to sit and wait while in pain for same outcome. The doctors and staff were all so great. Above and beyond caring! My husband has bad dental anxiety, but he said it was the first time he felt comfortable in a dental chair. Thanks to Drs. Bird and Johnson's office my husband will be on the mend and we know exactly what to do if this happens again. We just moved to Melbourne and are very glad to find them. Certainly know where to go for sure if need any teeth removed or implants. Thanks again for excellent care and compassion!"
